Bokeh

f/stop- 1.6 ss- 1/30 iso- 160

In all of my shots I used my phone flashlight to light up my subjects. In this picture the shape was supposed to be a monster but did not work out so its a crown. This is my favorite shot from the shoot because I love how clean and subtle it is, also the fact that some focus on the lights first and others focus on the face, there is not just one thing everyone looks at first.

For my shapes I used white printer paper, I traced the lens then cut out the circle, once that was done I drew my shape, for example above I drew a christmas tree, and then cut it out using a box cutter.

Due to lack of space in my house the hardest part, after trying to figure out how to achieve bokeh in the first place, was getting the distance right between me, the lights, and the subject. In this photo I am pressed into the corner of my shower and used a heart shape.

Another issue was lighting trying to hold the phone flashlight, trying to get my shape design to stay put, and taking the picture was all very overwhelming. I'd say the worst part was nothing coming out like I wanted and up to the high expectations I had for this shoot.

On a more positive note I found that when done right I really like the bokeh effect and what it brings to a picture. If there was a stencil of sorts to place on the camera for the shape design I think it would make the experience better and the idea of taking bokeh shots more appealing
